Springfield, Ill. | June 17 2023 | Governor Pritzker Announces $6 Million in Funding for Energy Transition Navigators Program | Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) launched $6 million in funding for the Energy Transition Navigators Program as part of the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) this week. Cook County, Ill. | June 28 2023 | Cook County aims to restart small business grant program it halted after a white business owner sued | Ten months after announcing but then stalling a grant program to help small businesses that struggled during the pandemic, Cook County is preparing to relaunch it…Grants will be given based on revenue size: Those with 2019 gross revenue between $20,000 and $50,000 can receive $10,000 grants, while businesses with revenues over $50,000 can receive $20,000 grants.
Aurora, Ill. | June 26 2023 | Grant designed to help Aurora police fund social workers for its Crisis Intervention Unit | A new grant from the U.S. Department of Justice is designed to help the Aurora Police Department fund social workers for its Crisis Intervention Unit, which officers hope to expand in the next few years. The $294,000 two-year grant from the Justice Department’s COPS Office was announced in October and Aurora City Council members are expected to approve receiving the funds on Tuesday night.
Springfield, Ill. | June 26 2023 | Gov. Pritzker announces $24.9 million to IDOT for paratransit vehicles | Gov. JB Pritzker announced today that the Illinois Department of Transportation has been awarded a total of $24.9 million in two grants from the Federal Transit Administration for new battery-electric paratransit vehicles and paratransit vehicle replacements. The investment will help expand and improve services, providing additional transportation options, reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing quality of life throughout the state.

Pritzker Announces Over $1 Billion in Federal Funding to Support High-Speed Internet Access and Adoption in Illinois | Today, Governor JB Pritzker along with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced Illinois will be allocated over $1 billion in funding to support high-speed internet access through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program. This grant will help fund the development of high-speed infrastructure across the nation as part of President Biden’s Internet for All initiative.
Cook County, Ill. | June 22 2023 | Cook County Selected for $1.1 Million Grant Award to Strengthen Solar Energy Installation Opportunities for Business Owners and Workers from Historically-Excluded Communities | President Preckwinkle announced that Cook County won a $1.1 million grant award from the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Office. With these grant funds, Cook County will partner with HIRE360 and OAI. This will establish the Chicagoland Solar Collaborative. This new group will identify needs and develop solutions to support the emerging market and increased demand for solar installation.
Chicago, Ill. | June 19 2023 | City of Chicago to Receive $6.8 Million from Mellon Foundation to Fund Creation of New Chicago Monuments | [T]he Mellon Foundation announced a grant of $6.8 million to The City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) to support the Chicago Monuments Project (CMP) and citywide community-generated commemorative initiatives and installations. Funding from the Mellon Foundation will allow for the implementation of new Chicago monuments, including the Chicago Torture Justice Memorial. These projects will add—permanently and temporarily—to the City of Chicago’s collection and memorialize events, people, and groups that historically have been excluded or underrepresented.

Pritzker Announces Opening of $31 Million Expanded Terminal at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport | oday, Governor JB Pritzker joined state and local officials to announce the grand opening of MidAmerica St. Louis Airport’s expanded terminal – a $31 million multi-year project bolstered by $7 million in grant funding from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) in addition to $24 million in federal dollars.
Washington, D.C. | Durbin, Duckworth Announce High Speed Rail Service From Chicago To St. Louis | U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today applauded the Illinois Department of Transportation’s new schedule changes for Amtrak’s Lincoln Service trains following the successful implementation of the Chicago-to-St. Louis high-speed rail project. Springfield, Ill. | June 5 2023 | Illinois EPA Announces $12.6 Million in Grants for Public Light-Duty Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure | Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) Director John J. Kim today announced $12.6 million is being awarded to 10 applicants for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The grants will fund 348 new Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) ports at 87 locations throughout Illinois. The awards are based on a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) issued in the fall of 2022 seeking publicly accessible locations in the three priority areas outlined in the Volkswagen (VW) Beneficiary Mitigation Plan (BMP). These grants were made possible after the Pritzker Administration committed to focus Illinois’ remaining VW Settlement allocation on electric transportation and infrastructure.
