Washington, D.C. | September 24, 2023 | Reducing Lead in Drinking Water Grant Program (EPA-OW-OGWDW-24-03) | The EPA is soliciting applications from eligible applicants for lead reduction projects in disadvantaged communities in two National Priority Areas as described in the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). The EPA expects to make at least one award under each National Priority Area but may redistribute the awards differently based on the quality of applications received and other applicable considerations. Awards made under the funding opportunity are intended to promote public health and support the Justice40 initiative by addressing conditions that contribute to increased concentrations of lead in drinking water. Proposed projects must include at least one or more disadvantaged community. Applications will be evaluated based on the extent to which the proposed project:(i) is in and/or benefits a disadvantaged community(ies); (ii) benefits drinking water systems with at least one lead action level exceedance within the last three years or addresses lead levels in drinking water in schools/childcare facilities; and (iii) supports the Justice40 initiative. Estimated Awards: 9. Total Funding: $ 35,000,000. Award Ceiling: $10,000,000. Closing Date: November 20, 2024.

Springfield, Ill. | Sept. 3 2024 | Illinois EPA announces $5 million grant to improve state water quality | The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a $5 million grant to fund projects aimed at improving water quality in the state of Illinois last Tuesday. Illinois EPA plans to distribute the $5 million across an anticipated two to 10 awards. The minimum grant amount will be $75,000, while the maximum amount granted for a singular award from the Green Infrastructure Grant Opportunities Program will be $2,500,000. The funding will be allocated through the GIGO Program, which focuses on using funding to construct best management practices (BMPs). These are designed to minimize stormwater runoff in order to reduce the amount of floods in Illinois’ rivers and lakes. Estimated Awards: 2 to 10. Total Funding: $5,000,000. Award Ceiling: $2,500,000. Closing Date: December 30, 2024.

Springfield, Ill. | Sept. 1 2024 | Governor Pritzker Announces $26.5 Million In Grant Funding For Community Development Block Grant Program | Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) today announced $26.5 million in funding for the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) for Public Infrastructure and Housing Rehabilitation. Grantees will be selected through a competitive Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) process. Estimated Awards: 30. Total Funding: $29,464,578. Award Ceiling: $1,000,000. Closing Date: December 4, 2024.
